Kris Smith finds fairways harder than catwalk

Kris Smith was among the celebrities taking part in the pro-am at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open at Royal Melbourne today, although he classified his game as "terrible''.

Englishman Smith, an ambassador for Myer in Australia and a television presenter with Channel Seven,

"I haven't seen many fairways so I couldn't tell you about that,'' he told us.

"I hit one fairway. We're eight holes in and I've had four pars, amazingly. It's just as well you don't class your score on how good your game looks!''

Smith played in a group with Charley Hull, the 18-year-old English player who was the No.1 golfer in Europe last year.

"She's smashing the ball,'' said Smith. "For such a young girl, she knows exactly where her game should be and where her head should be. She's an absolute pleasure to play next to.''
