2017 Sportscover Victorian Junior Masters Underway

The 2017 Victorian Sportscover Victorian Junior Masters kicked off today at the Churchill-Waverley Golf and Bowls Club. In a bid to expand the event even further, the 72-hole Nationally ranked championship is now played over four days without a ‘cut. A record breaking 239 players assembled across the Waverley and Churchill sites under clear skies in chase for this years coveted title.

Following her red hot from, Alizza Hetherington is leading the all-star girls line up with a great round of one under-par 71 at the Churchill site this afternoon. Alizza will be looking to add the Masters title to her resume after claiming the Victorian Girls Championship in September last year as well as the prestigious Victorian Amateur title only a few weeks back.  New South Wales’ Grace Kim is only one shot behind the overnight frontrunner, with three players another shot back.

In the boys section, Toby Walker and Antony Majstorovic are tied at the top of the table after the pair fired rounds of two-under par 70 at the Waverley site today. Solid rounds from Max Charles and New Zealand’s Shaun Campbell place them one shot in arrears of the joint leaders at one-under par.

Amidst of all the birdies today, one shot stood head and shoulders above the rest. Sara Hidayat fired a perfectly struck 7 iron on the par 17th hole at Churchill to score her first ever hole-in-one.
