Golf Queensland is pleased to announce the 2017 Queensland Men’s & Women’s Interstate Teams to contest the Australian Interstate Teams Matches in May.
Some of Queensland’s brightest stars are set to make their representative debuts when the Interstate Series returns to Western Australia for the first time since 2011.
A youthful Women’s Team includes four players set to complete at next month’s Girl’s Interstate Series at Port Kembla before making their debut in the senior ranks. Sarah Wilson, Isabelle Taylor, Darcy Habgood and Lisa Edgar will earn their first senior starts at Royal Fremantle from May 9.
Gennai Goodwin and Dee Dee Russell will return to the Women’s side after both playing pivotal roles in last year’s victory at Royal Queensland. The team will be coached by Richard Woodhouse and managed by Jess Jenkins.
In form Queensland duo Karis Davidson and Becky Kay were not available for selection as they have been selected to represent Australia at the Queen Sirikit Cup in China that same week.
The Men’s Team will be looking go one better after their runner-up placing to New South Wales last year when they tee it up at Melville Glades Golf Club from May 9.
The eight-man squad consists of debutants Chris Crabtree, Lawry Flynn and Lucas Higgins, joined by Louis Dobbelaar and Jed Morgan with the latter also members of this year’s Boys’ Interstate team.
Shae Wools-Cobb will make his third appearance, with Douglas Klein and recent 2016 Queensland Male Amateur Player of the Year Charlie Dann returning for a second start. The team will be coached by Grant Field and managed by Matt Toomey.
The captains of both Queensland teams are to be announced by their coaches at a later date.
