Minjee Lee moves up at Evian

Australia’s Minjee Lee has moved into position in the LPGA Tour’s final major of the season, the Evian Championship in France.

Lee had a poor second nine on Thursday but a 68 on Friday has elevated the world No. 6 into a tie for 26th at two-under overall, six shots from the lead.

The 22-year-old Western Australian is completing her best season on the US tour but is yet to win a major.

Queensland’s Katherine Kirk also is in the mix at one-under par, just outside the top 30, after a 73 yesterday.

However Victoria’s Su Oh was forced to withdraw from the second round due to an unspecified illness.

American Amy Olson carded a second-round 65 to seize the lead at eight-under with Korean Mi-Hyang Lee.

Olson has profited from using an old two-ball putter from her junior days.

“For me, I give myself a lot of the birdie chances week in and week out. When I can capitalize on them, that's when I can really go low,’’ she said. “I had a TaylorMade Spider, and I switched it an Odyssey 2-Ball putter. I putted with the two-ball when I was a junior. It was like my first love, and just randomly went back to it. Liked the feel, liked the look, and made a couple adjustments mechanically as well and it's felt really good.’’
