Five Australians including LPGA Tour rookie Hannah Green have reached the season-ending tour championship in Florida.
Perth’s Minjee Lee sits at No. 2 on the Race to CME Globe rankings entering the final event of the year, with a strong chance of winning the $US 1 million bonus on offer.
With a points reset, Lee is one of the top five players who are all guaranteed to win the bonus pool if they win the Tour Championship, which is to be held at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida this week.
Currently she sits second behind Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn after a season in which she has had a win and an astonishing 13 top-10 finishes.
The other Australians in the tour championship are Sarah Jane Smith, Su Oh, Katherine Kirk and Green, the 21-year-old from Perth who stitched up her place with a tied-15th in the Blue Bay event in China over the weekend.
It is a huge effort by Green, who has had two top-10 finishes and earned $US236,000 in prizemoney in her first year on the tour. She is 71st on the points standings, just inside the top 72 who get a start in the tour championship, worth $US2.5 million.
Green also is inside the top 80 players on the money list who are guaranteed full playing rights for 2019.
