Aussies On Tour: July 15

There’s no doubt Brett Coletta will be happy to pick up our #AussieOfTheWeek tag today.

But as prestigious as that might be, you can’t help but think it’s far from the Victorian’s mind as he ponders what might have been at the Korn Ferry Tour’s TPC Colorado Championship.

Coletta, who turned 23 last week, turned in an overseas-best professional result with a runner-up finish on the secondary American tour.

It took a closing-hole birdie by his playing partner – Argentina’s Nelson Ledesma – to beat him, but the outright second place was enough for the former Queensland Open champion to slide into No.25 on the KFT money list.

If he can remain 25th or better after the final seven events of the tour’s season, he will earn his card for the main PGA Tour next year.

On an otherwise relatively flat weekend for Aussies abroad, Minjee Lee and Su Oh both tuned up for a big stretch on the LPGA Tour with each recording a share of 19th in the Marathon Classic in Ohio.

The LPGA Tour has one more tournament – this week’s inaugural Dow Great Lakes Bay Classic team event – before heading to Europe for back-to-back major championships.
